I was just reading Daily Kos and found a posting with Charmaine Neville's account of her experience in the days after Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. She spent harrowing days with no help and summoned pure courage to save herself and more than 20 of her neighbors and friends.

The media is beginning to be locked out of New Orleans, the people in charge don't want us to see the carnage and death, but there are 200,000 stories out there and they can't be contained.
